BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man has been charged with shooting his girlfriend earlier this month, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Prince Singletary, 55, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon/ammunition by a convicted felon.

At 6:20 a.m. April 16, officers were dispatched to Manatee Memorial Hospital for a reported shooting victim who was currently being treated. At the hospital, they located the victim who sustained a gunshot wound to her right arm and chest.

According to police, both the victim and her live-in boyfriend, Singletary, were not truthful about how the shooting occurred. Further investigation conducted by detectives showed that Singletary shot her, police said.

Police said Singletary gave several different accounts as to how the incident occurred but did admit to shooting the woman. Singletary was arrested Friday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office website. He was being held in Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $125,000.
