Bradenton motorcyclist injured in crash
BRADENTON -- A Bradenton motorcyclist was injured at 4:23 p.m. Friday after he said a female driver hit him at the intersection of Eighth Avenue West and Eighth Street West in Bradenton.
James Feehan, 67, said he was eastbound on Eighth Avenue when a woman in a vehicle southbound on Eighth Street ran a stop sign and hit him, knocking Feehan and his motorcycle over.
According to an officer on scene, the female driver will be cited for careless driving.
Bradenton police Lt. William Knight said he could not release the name of the female driver, who also declined to identify herself to a Herald reporter.
EMS paramedics treated Feehan's right arm with bandages for scratches sustained in the crash. As he waited for Bradenton police to arrive, Feehan's Honda motorcycle remained parked by the intersection.
"OK," Feehan said when asked how he felt. "If you look at my helmet, you'll see a nice gouge in it whereas good thing I had it on or my head would've had a nice gouge in it, probably."
Another driver on scene, who asked to only be identified as Steve, said he witnessed the crash and the female driver left and then returned to the scene.
The female driver told a Herald reporter she stopped and Feehan then got up and told her he was OK.
"He said 'I'm bleeding a little bit on my arm but I'm OK,'" she recalled.
