MANATEE -- Three Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies involved in the arrest at Centerstone Florida of a Bradenton man under the influence, who then died Wednesday, have returned to duty.

An autopsy on suspect Christopher Erdman found nothing out of the ordinary, according to sheriff's office spokesman Dave Bristow.

Erdman was dropped off early Wednesday at Centerstone, Bradenton's mental health and addiction treatment facility at 2020 26th Ave. E., and began to act erratically, forcing employees to call the sheriff's office.

At 12:25 a.m., when deputies Aaron Winslow, Carlos Dasilva and Lorenzo Waiters Jr. got to the facility, Erdman was yelling, the sheriff's office has reported. They tried to neutralize Erdman but he resisted, so they used Tasers to stun him and were preparing to handcuff and transport Erdman when he appeared to have some medical issue and became unresponsive, according to reports.

Erdman was taken by paramedics to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead at 1:38 a.m.

Erdman, who turned 39 Wednesday, had a history of drug abuse.

Winslow, Dasilva and Waiters Jr. returned to duty Thursday after being cleared of wrongdoing. They were placed on routine paid administrative leave after the incident.

The cause of death is unknown. Results of a toxicology test are pending in order to determine a cause of death.
