Bradenton man charged with torturing dog
BRADENTON -- Police have arrested a 22-year-old after a dog was found Sunday with a broken tooth, a bloody nose and a swollen and bleeding eye, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Police received a call from a local veterinarian that a dog brought in for treatment had injuries consistent with abuse, according to a release.
Police responded to the dog's home and spoke with people present when the dog was injured. Anthony Kidd first denied injuring the dog, but later admitted he threw the dog outside because he was angry after it defacated in the house.
Kidd is not the owner of the dog, but lives in a home with the owner. The dog is healing with the vet in a secured facility.
"The status of the dog in the long run has not been decided," said Lt. James Racky, spokesman for the Bradenton Police Department.
Kidd is charged with torturing an animal with intent, which is a third-degree felony.
