Manatee Walmart employee thwarts robber's attempt to steal purse

MANATEE -- Deputies are looking for an unidentified robber who was thwarted by a Walmart employee early Friday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A woman was walking into the front doors of the Walmart Supercenter at 6225 State Road 64 East at 2:30 a.m., according to a release.

An unknown man in his 20s or 30s grabbed her purse from her shoulder and tried to run away with it through the parking lot, deputies said. A Walmart employee chased after him, wrestled the purse away and returned it to the victim.

The attempted robber got away and the victim was not harmed.
