MANATEE -- A man previously charged for stabbing his parents with a knife multiple times has been charged with violating his pretrial release after he called his parents 15 times asking them to drop the charges, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Jonathan Skarr, 27, was arrested on Feb. 7 after he stabbed his 66-year-old father and 61-year-old mother multiple times at 4:40 a.m. in their home in the 12600 block of Daisy Place, according to a release. Both are still recovering and are now in stable condition but the father nearly died after the attack.

Skarr was ordered at his first appearance in court to not contact either of his parents, according to an arrest report. The State Attorney's Office learned in March that Skarr has been calling the victims from jail to try to convince them to drop the charges against him.

A deputy said in the report that Skarr placed 15 calls to his parents between March 2 and March 20. His parents have previously told investigators that Skarr has issues and acknowledged to deputies that he calls them often.

"The defendant never inquires about their condition but is more interested in having them sign a waiver of prosecution to drop the charges," the deputy wrote.

Skarr, who was never released from jail after the stabbings, was charged with violating pretrial release requirements on Friday and continues to be held in the Manatee County jail without bond.
