Manhunt continues for suspect in slaying of Bradenton man
BRADENTON -- A manhunt led by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office continues for the suspect detectives say gunned down another man in East Bradenton early Monday.
Kyle Dewayne Stackhouse, 27, is wanted for the fatal shooting of Nicolette Johnson, 24. Detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Homicide Investigative Unit obtained a warrant charging him with murder late Wednesday and have been searching for him ever since.
At 1:51 a.m. Monday, dep
uties responded to the 4300 block of Eighth Street Court East in Bradenton to reports of gunshots being heard in the area. When they arrived, they found Johnson lying in a driveway suffering from gunshot wounds.
Johnson was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Stackhouse has not yet been apprehended.
"We are confident that he is still in that area, and that is based on information we have received," sheriff's office spokesman Dave Bristow said. "So we need the public's help."
Stackhouse's criminal history includes arrests for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of domestic battery in 2013 in Manatee County that were dropped, and a charge of armed home invasion in Sarasota County in 2014 that was dropped. He also has convictions for driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license with knowledge and failing to register a vehicle.
Anyone with information on the Stackhouse's whereabouts or the case can call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2159, or submit an anonymous tip to Manatee County Crime Stoppers and be eligible for a possible reward at 866-634-TIPS or send an e-tip to manateecrimestoppers.com.
