Manatee sheriff warns of scam involving bail bonds
MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to be aware of a scam that involves bail bonds.
According to a release, at least three people have been targeted by the scam in recent days with one of the subjects falling victim to the scam. The sheriff's office said the scam targets individuals who were recently released from jail. The scam suspect will call the person and tell them that their bond is being revoked unless they pay money.
According to a release, the person who was victimized wired the suspect or suspects $600.
The sheriff's office asks anyone who has fallen victim to this scam or any other scam to contact the agency at 941-747-3011.
