Cops: Bradenton man tries to hide cocaine under his scrotum
BRADENTON -- A 24-year-old man tried to hide cocaine under his scrotum when he was stopped by police Wednesday afternoon, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Police were driving in the 2200 block of 15th Avenue East in Bradenton at 3:11 p.m. when an officer recognized Edrick McCary, who he believed had an active warrant out for his arrest, according to the arrest report.
When officers got out of the vehicle, McCary became nervous and "began to pat down and reach into his front and right pockets," police said. He tried to run into a residence but the door was locked, and officers told him to calm down and keep his hands visible. Officers also said they could smell marijuana.
McCary then reached into his right pocket and pulled something out before reaching down the front of his pants and making a tucking motion, "as if he was hiding something up under his groin," the report said.
Officers detained McCary and had him sit in a plastic chair in the area. They found a small marijuana joint, and as they picked it up McCary said, "That's what we was smoking," police said.
Officers then asked McCary what was in his pants and he said it was cocaine, but "it ain't nothing more than half a G," according to the report.
During a search of McCary officers found 0.8 grams of powder cocaine underneath his scrotum and a scale that had remnants of cocaine on it in his front pocket.
McCary was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
