4 suspects arrested after Bradenton robbery attempt, 4 others
BRADENTON -- The Bradenton Police Department say four subjects have been detained in Lake Wales for questioning about a series of crimes, including a robbery by sudden snatching in Bradenton on Monday.
At noon Monday, a senior female was putting groceries into her vehicle at Publix, 4651 Cortez Road West, Bradenton. Police reported the victim felt a tug on her purse and turned to see a young male trying to pull the purse off her shoulder.
The victim fought back, and the suspect gave up and ran to a waiting vehicle that left the parking lot heading east on Cortez Road.
Bradenton police said the vehicle being used was stolen out of Lakeland. Police reported the stolen vehicle involved in the Bradenton robbery attempt and others in Haines City, Winter Haven, Lake Wales and Clearwater, was stopped in Lake Wales.
"The four subjects located inside the stolen vehicle were all detained and are being questioned in relation to the recent robbery crimes spree," according to a release issued at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday.
