Gunmen rob Sarasota bank

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place at approximately 3:48 p.m. Tuesday at the SunTrust bank located at 4981 Ringwood Meadow in Sarasota.

Two suspects entered the bank and demanded money before fleeing southbound and entering an unknown vehicle, according to Kaitlyn Johnston, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. One of the men displayed a handgun in his waistband.

The first suspect is described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds and wearing an olive-colored long-sleeved shirt, jeans and tan baseball cap. The second suspect is also described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s and approximately 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds and wearing a grey and black Columbia jacket and jeans. The sheriff's office said both men wore sunglasses, bandanas, gloves and carried black backpacks.
