Sarasota man charged in video voyeurism incident
SARASOTA -- Detectives have arrested a Venice man in connection with a video voyeurism incident from March 2 at a vintage boutique in Sarasota, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
James Lee Lilly, Jr., 47, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Friday in Sarasota.
At around 11:15 a.m. March 2, deputies said the 46-year-old victim was shopping at Bon Bon Vintage in the 3000 block of Tuttle Avenue when Lilly started to engage her in conversation. He continued to talk to and follow the woman throughout the store and, when she became suspicious, the sheriff's office said the woman turned around to find Lilly crouched down behind her taking photos.
When she confronted Lilly, he fled the store.
According to the sheriff's office, Lilly admitted to the crime.
Lilly was being held in Sarasota County jail on $1,500 bond, according to the sheriff's office website. Deputies said his history includes five prior arrests in the county.
