Bradenton man facing drug, weapons charges in Sarasota
SARASOTA -- A Bradenton man is facing drug and weapons charges after an undercover narcotics investigation by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.
Oliver Santana-Garcia, 31, is charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams, violation of probation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a news release. He is currently being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.
Detectives with the Special Investigation Section of the sheriff's office had obtained a warrant for Santana-Garcia's arrest after reportedly seeing him selling cocaine and heroin between June and October 2015. While detectives were conducting surveillance on Santana-Garcia's home Monday, he left and was arrested during a traffic stop when deputies found him possession of a semi-automatic pistol and marijuana.
During a search of his business, Monkey Mobile Tire Shop, 2064 17th St/, Sarasota, later that afternoon Alan Acosta-Mata, 26, was found in possession of a .40-caliber handgun. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a license. He was released from the Sarasota County jail on a $1,500 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the sheriff's office.
