BRADENTON -- Hours after a press conference touting the success of a recent long-term drug investigation in decreasing heroin overdoses in Manatee County, a man had a seizure just outside the Bradenton Police Department Friday morning possibly caused by drugs.

Dispatch called emergency services to the Bradenton Police Department at about 11:45 a.m. for a drug overdose. Police, emergency medical services and Bradenton Fire Rescue employees surrounded and tried to help the man, who was unconscious on a patch of grass just outside the police department.

Lt. James Racky, spokesman for Bradenton police, said the man was being taken there by a police officer to complete paperwork. He was arrested after a domestic dispute revealed there was a warrant out for his arrest, and when he and the police officer arrived he began to have a seizure.

Racky said they don't know what caused the seizure but it's possible drugs could be involved. The man was transported to hospital. He did not appear to regain consciousness on scene.
