Manatee Sheriff's Office: Bradenton teen at large after stabbing mother in back of head

MANATEE -- Deputies are searching for a teenage boy who reportedly stabbed his mother in the back of the head at 2:41 p.m. Friday at a home in the 3400 block of 55th Drive East in Bradenton.

The domestic battery happened, according to a release.

The victim instructed her 16-year-old son to hurry and finish his lunch because she had to go to work and was bringing him with her. She turned to walk toward the front door and felt a sharp pain in the back of her head, deputies said.

The bleeding victim turned to see her son standing behind her holding a knife, according to the release.

Her son fled on foot and is at large.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, deputies said.
