Skimming device found inside pump at Sarasota Marathon gas station
SARASOTA -- A skimming device was locate inside one of the gas pumps of a Sarasota gas station during a routine annual check, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
On Wednesday, a staff with the Florida Department of Agriculture was conducting a routine check of the pumps at the Marathon gas station, 2000 North Washington Blvd., Sarasota, when he found a skimming device inside of one of the pumps, according to a news release. The device could have been placed inside the pump anytime since March when it was last checked.
The pump were the skimming device was found is reportedly out of the sight of gas station's surveillance cameras.
Anyone who has bought gas at that Marathon station is advised to check their bank accounts for any unknown transactions, according to Sarasota police.
