Man pistol-whipped in Bradenton by would-be robber

MANATEE -- A man was pistol-whipped in Bradenton after a would-be robber pushed him to the ground, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

At 6:39 a.m. Wednesday, a 45-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were searching a Dumpster behind CJ's bookstore, 4949 14th St. W., Bradenton, looking for lottery tickets when they were approached by another man, according to a news release. The man pointed a gun at the victims and demanded money.

The male victim was then pushed to the ground and pistol-whipped, before the assailant ran off.

The would-be robber is said to weigh about 140 pounds and was seen wearing grey shorts and a ball cap.

The male victim suffered a small cut on his left ear and had some redness on the side of his head, but he refused to treated by paramedics.

Nothing was stolen from the victims, according to the report.
