Sarasota police identify juvenile caught on camera damaging elevator with skateboard
SARASOTA -- The Sarasota Police Department have identified a 16-year-old juvenile charged with damaging an elevator with his skateboard in January.
The juvenile was caught on surveillance camera throwing a skateboard at elevator doors in a parking garage at 1538 State St. in Sarasota at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 12, according to a release.
The suspect aims and throws his skateboard at the elevator door several times in the video, causing damage to outer elevator doors. Police estimate the cost of the damage at between $5,000 and $8,000.
The juvenile is being charged with criminal mischief but police are not releasing his name to the public, since he is a minor.
