Sarasota police trying to identify car burglar caught on video
SARASOTA -- The Sarasota Police Department is trying to identify a suspect who stole items from an unlocked car early on Jan. 11.
The suspect was caught on surveillance camera at 4 a.m. opening the door of a 2008 Toyota truck parked outside a home in the 500 block of South Palm Avenue in Sarasota, according to a release.
The burglary is seen riding a bike by the truck, and he pulls on the door handle and it opens. The suspect turns around and goes into the truck and steals a radar detector and pocket knife. The value of the stolen items is approximately $810.
Sarasota police remind the public to lock their cars, hide their valuables and record the serial numbers of their property to make it easier for law enforcement to track stolen items.
