Divers find possible weapon in Bradenton homicide case
MANATEE -- Manatee County Sheriff's Office investigators Wednesday afternoon found what may be the murder weapon used in the killings of a man and woman last week in Manatee County.
"We found what could be the murder weapon," said sheriff's office spokesman Dave Bristow. "We're not going to say anything else other than that but we did locate a weapon and we'll go from there."
Investigators searched Tuesday and Wednesday for any evidence in the waters of the Manatee River in connection to the killings of 38-year-old John Karl Tuxford and 23-year-old Jordan Finlon last week.
Dwayne Cummings, 38, was charged with murder Monday in connection with the deaths of Tuxford and Finlon.
On Tuesday, Cummings was ordered held without bond during a first appearance hearing at the Manatee County Courthouse.
Bristow could not say where exactly the weapon was found, nor provide details on the kind of weapon it is.
No further information was provided.
