Bradenton man dies nearly two weeks after being hit by car while sitting at bus stop
MANATEE -- A Bradenton man has died nearly two weeks after being hit by a car while sitting at a bus stop, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At 10:15 a.m. Jan. 2, Benjamin Siplin was sitting at a stop on the west shoulder of U.S. 41 at the intersection with Braden Avenue, according to a news release. Aquiles Lee, of Sarasota, was heading south on U.S. 41 in a 2013 Hyundai Genesis, when he lost control of the car, going onto the west shoulder.
Siplin, 84, had been taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries. On Friday, Siplin died, according to the updated report.
Lee has been charged with careless driving.
