Sixteen-year-old Bradenton girl accidently shoots herself in the hand when playing with gun

MANATEE -- A sixteen-year-old Bradenton girl accidently shot herself while playing with a gun, according to Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

At 12:42 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 3800 block of 10th Street Court East in Bradenton, according to a news release.

The gunshot wound in the girl's hand was accidently self-inflicted, detectives learned. Someone had dropped off the gun to the home Wednesday and the girl was playing with it Thursday when it accidently went off hitting her in the hand, detectives' investigation revealed.

The girl was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her gunshot wound, according to sheriff's office spokesman Dave Bristow.

The investigation is still on-going.
