SARASOTA -- Three men are facing charges after detectives uncovered a meth lab running out of a Sarasota home, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday night, the sheriff's office received information from an anonymous caller about a meth lab in a home on Gateway Avenue in Sarasota, according to a news release. Deputies then met with the residents in the home.

Witnesses told detectives that Patrick McClain asked them to buy pseudoephedrine so he could make meth and that he set a mattress on fire in a bedroom while doing so but was able to extinguish it himself, according to the sheriff's office.

"After confirming there was an active meth lab in the home, the Sarasota County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit responded while deputies evacuated apartments in the immediate area and closed the road to traffic," the release states.

Once the home was deemed safe, detectives trained to investigate methamphetamine labs found 122.6 grams of the drug when they searched the home.

Patrick McClain and Jared Broome are charged with manufacture of methamphetamine and trafficking in methamphetamine. Kyle Cartwright was charged with violation of probation for being present while the illegal activity was taking place.

The investigation remains on-going.
