Police: Palmetto man charged with threatening roommate with kitchen knife

PALMETTO -- A Palmetto man was charged with threatening his roommate with a kitchen knife, according to the Palmetto Police Department.

Pragedix Tellez-Garcia, 30, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 200 block of Ninth Street West. According to a report, Tellez-Garcia's roommate arrived earlier that night to the apartment they share. Police said Tellez-Garcia began a fight with his roommate, kicked him out of the house and cursed at him.

According to a report, Tellez-Garcia then told his roommate to stay where he was and came back towards him with a large kitchen knife. The victim told police that he was in fear that Tellez-Garcia was going to kill him. The victim also told police that Tellez-Garcia was intoxicated.

Another roommate opened the door for police and officers said Tellez-Garcia went to the kitchen and began to come towards the victim until he saw police, according to a report.

Tellez-Garcia was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held in Manatee County on $5,000 bond.
