Gold Star Club offers $15,000 on New Year's Day shootings that left three dead in Bradenton
MANATEE -- The Gold Star Club of Manatee County is offering rewards for information on two New Year's Day shootings that left three people dead.
With no arrests in either case, detectives are seeking additional information as they continue their investigations.
A reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest in the fatal shootings of Demetrius Robinson and Florence Randall is being offered.
A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible for the shooting death of Julio Tellez, according to a news release.
The Gold Star Club of Manatee County Inc. was formed in 1999 at the request of Sheriff Charles Wells for the purpose of supporting Manatee County law enforcement agencies by providing large sums of reward money to assist in the arrest and conviction of criminals who commit serious crimes in Manatee County.
Meanwhile, a suspect wanted for the last homicide of 2015 remains at large.
At 5:19 a.m. Jan. 1, deputies responded to a home in the 5700 block of 11th Street East
in Bradenton three minutes after receiving a 911 call from a relative who had found Robinson, 37, and his girlfriend, Randall, 31, shot dead. The relative had gone to the couple's home in the triplex after hearing there had been a problem and found their bodies.
While a possible motive has not been released, detectives said the couple was targeted.
About 12:45 p.m., deputies were called to the scene of another fatal shooting in the 500 block of 60th Avenue Terrace West in Bradenton. They found Tellez, 26, shot to death outside the front door of the home.
A 29-year-old man was also shot in the forearm and taken to a local hospital. A third victim was uninjured.
No arrests have been made.
Less than two weeks prior, about 11:45 a.m. Dec. 19, detectives found Kevin McCants, 27, shot to death in the 1000 block of 33rd Avenue East in Bradenton.
Robert Eugene Brewer, 20, was identified by several witnesses as the shooter, according to authorities. Three other men were believed to be in a black Toyota Camry with Brewer, which drove off after McCants was shot.
The case remains open but detectives have a warrant for Brewer's arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Detectives with the Manatee County Homicide Investigative Unit are actively working all cases.
"We continue to interview people," sheriff's office spokesman Dave Bristow said. "We tracked down a few people we wanted to talk to."
The person of interest in the Tellez shooting has not been identified.
"We certainly welcome any information on either one of those two from the public," Bristow said.
Tellez and McCants were shot in broad daylight in a two-week time period. Detectives have urged the community to come forward with any information they may have.
The search continues for Brewer.
"Now it's just a matter of time," Bristow said. "We could always use more information. We never have enough information."
