FHP identifies Bradenton man who died after improperly crossing U.S. 41 in Manatee
MANATEE -- A pedestrian who died Sunday night after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing U.S. 41 has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Mark Weber, 56, of Bradenton, was pronounced dead on scene after walking into the lane of a 2004 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 24-year-old woman. According to FHP troopers, the woman was traveling southbound on U.S. 41, approaching the intersection with 50th Avenue Place West at 8:04 p.m. Weber, who was not initially identified, was crossing U.S. 41 north of the intersection when troopers said he walked into the lane where the Tahoe was travelling.
According to a report, the driver did not see Weber in time to stop. Neither the driver nor the two passengers in the vehicle were injured.
Troopers said they are not planning to file charges.
Based on his final position, troopers believe a second car northbound on U.S. 41 may have hit Weber. Anyone with information about a second vehicle hitting Weber is encouraged to call Cpl. James Wilmeth at 941-751-8357.
