Police: Bradenton convicted felon arrested on multiple charges after shooting at brothers in public
BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man and 7-time convicted felon was arrested at 5:30 a.m. Monday on several charges after police say he discharged a firearm in public towards two Bradenton brothers, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
At 1:43 a.m. Dec. 26, 2015, witnesses said Darrell L. Arline, 43, targeted the two men in the parking lot of R.J.'s Bar at 720 9th Ave. W., Bradenton. All three men involved in the apparent shoot out have been arrested.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the two brothers, Deven Bacon, 23, and Michael Bacon, 27, were arrested at the scene. Police said Deven was leaving in a red 2005 Chrysler Cargo Van with no headlights on and was arrested. A gun was found on the driver's seat. Police said Michael came over to his brother's side and was also arrested.
Deven was charged with resisting arrest without violence and was released the same day from Manatee County jail on $500 bond, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office website. Michael was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and obstruction and was released the same day on bonds totaling $2,000.
According to the warrant for Arline's arrest, a witness said he had just gotten a cigarette from Arline and was saying bye to him when Arline pulled out a gun, pointed it at someone and pulled the trigger. The man told police that "the gun jammed and he smacked the gun and cleared the chamber and then began spraying."
The witness added that an unknown man returned fire at Arline, who then fled and got into a black vehicle. According to the warrant, a bar employee identified Arline as the man who was actively shooting at Michael Bacon. Another witness told police that Arline was holding a large rifle and shot at the two brothers and continued to do so as they hid behind a dumpster.
Police reported finding a black leather bag an d"12 spent rounds of rimfire" and one unspent round where Arline was firing. Police found a letter addressed to Arline in the bag. According to the warrant, four 9 mm casings were also found in the area of the dumpster where the Bacon brothers were hiding. Deven Bacon identified Arline to police.
