Manatee deputies say woman robbed disabled man who invited her to his home to perform sex acts for money

MANATEE -- A woman was arrested on charges of theft Saturday after a man invited her to his home to perform sex acts for money and she returned twice, stealing $4,490 worth of items, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim, who is disabled, said he met Brenda E. Waller, 33, at the Mobil station at 5929 14th St. W. on Dec. 15 and offered to give her $20 in exchange for sexual acts, according to an arrest report. Waller agreed and went to the victim's house with him and offered to clean his home since he is in a wheelchair.

Waller left that day without taking anything, but returned Dec. 18 with a female friend. The friend was speaking to the victim when Waller took an air compressor by the front door, which the victim did not see because his chair was facing away from it, deputies said.

When they left, the victim noticed the compressor was missing and called Waller, who admitted to taking it and said she would bring it back. The victim said Waller is a drug addict.

Waller returned to the victim's home Dec. 23 with a male friend, the victim told deputies. The victim had the man stay on the porch and allowed Waller to come inside to talk about the missing air compressor, but said Waller "distracted him again by sitting him down in the living room and giving him a massage."

Waller told the victim she needed to use the bathroom and then went into his bedroom. When he asked what she was doing, she told him she was looking for toothpaste, according to the report. Waller and her friend then left, and the victim noticed that four firearms from his gun cabinet, a small jewelry box, jewelry, coins, a camera and other items were missing from his bedroom.

The victim called Waller again and she admitted to taking the items and said she would get them back, according to the report. The victim told her she had one week, and when the items still weren't returned he contacted law enforcement.

Waller was walking by the victim's residence while law enforcement was there and a deputy stopped her. She said she had been to the victim's home a couple times but did not know him well. She was wearing one of the stolen necklaces at the time.

Waller admitted during the interview that she had taken the air compressor and pawned it, then returned to the victim's home with her male friend with the intention of stealing guns. She said she saw the victim's key to his gun cabinet while she was cleaning during the first visit, and she traded the firearms to her dealers in exchange for crack, heroin and marijuana.

Waller said she is a drug addict and "does not think about the things she does when she wants to get high," according to the report. She told deputies she knows she needs help.

Waller was charged with theft and is being held in the Manatee County jail on $1,500 bond.
