Burglary suspect arrested after chase in Manatee

MANATEE -- One of two spotted looking into parked cars was arrested after a chase early Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 12:55 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 8100 block of Enclave Way, after a witness reported seeing two males in the parking lot. One was looking into cars using the light of his cell phone and the other was acting as a lookout, according to a news release.

"The witness yelled at the two suspects and they took off running south," the report states.

A K9 deputy responded and tracked the suspects to the 8000 block of 36th Street East, where two deputies saw the suspects jumping a wall into another neighborhood. Both gave chase, and one of the suspects, later identified as Rondell C. Edwards, 20, was arrested in the 3400 block of Oak Grove Drive.

The second suspect went in another direction, and got away. He was described as wearing a black shirt and red shorts.

Edwards faces three counts of burglary and a count of resisting arrest. He is being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $5,000.
