Bradenton police searching for suspect in shooting outside nightclub early Saturday
BRADENTON -- Police are still searching for one of the suspects involved in a shooting early Saturday morning, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
At 1:43 a.m., patrol officers heard gunshots coming area of Club RJ's in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue West in Bradenton, according to a police report. When police officers arrived, gun shots were still being fired as multiple vehicles were driving away from the scene.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on one of the vehicles, the report stated. A gun was in plain view to the officers, who then attempted to arrest the suspect. Commands by the officer were ignored, and the suspect began to fight them.
The suspect was tasered and then taken into custody without any further incident and charged with carrying a concealed firearm and obstruction.
The suspect's brother aggressively approached police officers in an attempt to interfere. Officers then tasered the brother as well, and subsequently arrested him. He was charged with obstruction.
All available officers in the city were called to the scene to deal with the hostile crowd, the report stated.
There were no injuries reported.
An investigation revealed that it was two subjects who had fired several rounds of gunshots at each other, but no one was hit. One suspect was identified but remains at large but detectives were getting warrants for the suspect's arrest on the charges on possession of a firearm by convicted felon and discharging a firearm in public.
