Bradenton police investigating possible overdose death

BRADENTON -- The Bradenton Police Department is investigating a possible drug overdose death Tuesday night.

A witness told police she was in the Staples parking lot at 7210 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton at 8:20 p.m. and she saw a man get in and out of a car several times. She said she believed the occupants of the vehicle were doing drugs.

The witness went into the store and was returning to her vehicle when she the man lying on the ground a few feet from the car he was in, according to a report.

She called 9-1-1, and the suspect vehicle was gone before police arrived. The man was pronounced dead on scene and police have not released his identity.

Police are currently calling the incident a suspicious death and are investigating.
