Sarasota police investigate armed robbery

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon at a Sarasota Subway.

The incident took place at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the store located at 1154 North Washington Blvd., Sarasota, according to Sarasota police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge.

The suspect walked into the Subway, pointed a firearm at the clerks and demanded cash, police said. The clerks gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect took off.

According to a release, the suspect is described as a 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 man in his 20s with a mustache and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a design, long black pants and gold chain.
