Manatee sheriff's office investigates shooting on Interstate 75

MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting with no injuries after a woman discovered a bullet impact on her car after driving on Interstate 75.

The victim was driving northbound on I-75 just past the Moccasin Wallow exit when she heard a loud bang at 9:30 p.m., according to a release. When she arrived at her home in Hillsborough County she discovered there was a bullet impact on the passenger side of her car.

Deputies searched the area where the car was shot, which is mostly woods and farmland, and found nothing. The bullet did not enter the car and the woman was not injured.

Investigators do not believe it was a targeted incident.
