Sheriff: Juveniles may have caused $20,000 in damage to Lakewood Ranch neighborhood
MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports that a group of possible juveniles destroyed multiple signs in a Lakewood Ranch neighborhood.
The incident took place overnight Tuesday in the Oakmont neighborhood within the Legacy subdivision, according to a release. Deputies said it appears a group of possible juveniles were drinking at the pool area inside of the neighborhood when they proceeded to go throughout Legacy and destroy various signs.
The signs included stop signs, walkway signs, security signs and Realtor signs. According to the sheriff's office, many of the posts these signs were affixed were destroyed as well. The individuals then brought most of the signs back to the pool area and scattered some of them throughout the property, deputies added.
There was damage done to two buildings as well, the sheriff's office said. In total there was about $20,000 worth of damage done.
