Elderly man carjacked in Bradenton; armed suspect sought
BRADENTON -- An elderly man, clearing debris from a roadway, was carjacked at gunpoint Sunday morning, and area law enforcement agencies are searching for the suspect.
Bradenton police say the man had stopped his vehicle about 7:20 a.m. in the 3900 block of 71st Street West to remove a tree branch blocking the road.
"When he turned back to his vehicle, a black male suspect was in the driver's seat," according to a Bradenton police report.
The suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and drove off with the vehicle.
Surrounding police agencies were alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect and vehicle. Additional details describing the vehicle and suspect were not immediately available.
