State Road 70 in Myakka City blocked for 5 hours after Georgia man drives into ditch
MANATEE -- State Road 70 in Myakka City was closed for five hours after a 35-year-old Georgia man drove into a ditch at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to avoid a collision on State Road 70 near Carlton Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Georgia man was eastbound on State Road 70 approaching the Carlton Avenue intersection. Two vehicles had stopped in traffic on State Road 70 to turn left. FHP troopers said the driver failed to maintain a safe following distance and traveled onto the right shoulder and into the south grass ditch to avoid collision.
The vehicle overturned on its right side.
No injuries or charges were reported, according to the release.
