Man robs bank in Venice

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

The man entered the Bank United at 4149 S. Tamiami Trail in Venice at 12:05 p.m., according to a release. He implied he had a weapon but no witnesses saw one.

Witnesses said he left on foot but could not say in which direction.
