Bradenton sisters charged with beating woman in front of her children
MANATEE -- Two Bradenton sisters were arrested on battery charges after deputies said they beat a woman in front of her children over the weekend, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Robyn Lynn Vreeland, 33, and Vanessa Vreeland, 29, were arrested at 4:48 p.m. Monday after deputies forwarded a capias request to the State Attorney's Office, who filed formal charges.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, the Vreeland sisters came over to an apartment in the 1600 block of Flamingo Boulevard, which Robyn shares with the victim and her husband. Deputies said that apparently there is an unresolved issue about rent money and Vanessa confronted the victim.
During the verbal altercation, a report states that Vanessa struck the victim's face and her sister jumped on the victim. The victim fell to the ground face up and then Robyn held the victim's arm to the ground. Deputies said Robyn struck the victim on her face several times, in front of the victim's children. During the incident, the victim's children screamed and asked the Vreeland sisters to stop beating their mother, according to a report.
The victim suffered injuries to her face, including a large bruise on her left eye and lacerations on her nose, the sheriff's office said.
The victim was transported to a hospital to treat her injuries. The Vreeland sisters fled before law enforcement arrived, according to a report.
Both women were charged with battery and were released the same day on $500 bond each.
