Sarasota man, 42, killed trying to cross State Road 72
SARASOTA -- A 42-year-old Sarasota man was killed at 9 p.m. Wednesday as he tried to walk across State Road 72 at the intersection of Lockwood Ridge, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
A 2010 Toyota Sienna was eastbound on State Road 72 in the right lane west of the intersection with Lockwood Ridge while Vicente Ruvalcaba was on the north shoulder of S.R. 72 when he began to cross the eastbound lanes directly in front of the vehicle and was struck, FHP reported.
A 70-year-old male driver and 70-year-old female passenger from Uniontown, Ohio, suffered minor injuries in the accident, according to FHP.
No charges are pending against the motorist and alcohol is not suspected by FHP as a factor in the accident for him.
Alcohol test results are pending for the fatality.
