2 students charged with alcohol possession after police caught them having sex on Holmes Beach
HOLMES BEACH -- Two State College of Florida students were charged with possession of alcohol on a public beach after they were caught having sex Sunday evening, according to the Holmes Beach Police Department.
A witness called the police after he saw the 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman having sex on the 78th Street beach in Holmes Beach at 5:59 p.m., according to an arrest report.
The police officer arrived and witnessed the two having sex, as well as several alcoholic beverages on the towel around them. The man told officers that the alcohol belonged to him and that both of them had been drinking.
The witness refused to sign an affidavit about the two having sex after officers arrived on scene.
The two were both arrested and charged with possession of alcohol on a public beach. Both were released from the Manatee County jail that night on $120 bond.
A previous sex on the beach case in Bradenton Beach in July 2014 ended in convictions for both the man and the woman. The woman was released from jail after serving about a month and a half and the man is still serving a 2 1/2-year sentence.
