Orlando woman, juveniles charged with passing fake $100 bills at Mall at UTC in Sarasota

SARASOTA -- A woman and two 16-year-olds from Orlando were arrested on Black Friday for trying to pass several counterfeit bills to pay for Michael Kors bags at the Macy's store at the Mall at University Town Center, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Loss prevention officials for Macy's contacted law enforcement about fraudulent bills at 1:15 a.m. on Black Friday, according to an arrest report. Deputies saw surveillance video of Sena Howell, 27, and two teenagers passing a total of $900 in counterfeit bills to cashiers for Michael Kors purses.

Howell allowed deputies to search her vehicle, where they found two espresso machines that she had also purchased with fraudulent bills from a Target store in Sarasota, according to deputies. Each was bought for $149.79, and four more fraudulent bills were used in that case.

The two teenagers were charged with passing a total of six fraudulent $100 bills, and Howell was charged with passing six fraudulent $100 bills. Howell was released from the Sarasota County jail on $3,000 bond on Friday. Bail information on the juveniles was not available.
