Bradenton pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by car in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- A man in his mid-60s was rushed to Blake Medical Center at 6:40 p.m. Sunday with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car.

"He was crossing the street in the 2300 block of 14th Street West in an area without a crosswalk," said Lt. Brian Thiers of the Bradenton Police Department.

The man is in very critical condition, Thiers added.

No charges have been filed against the driver of a Honda Odessey van that struck the victim, Thiers said.

"Speed was not a factor," he added.

A section of 14th Street West near 23th Avenue West, which was closed due to the accident reopened shortly after 8 p.m.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Master Patrol Officer Chris Hutchko at 941-932-9300.
