Gunman tries to rob woman in front of her Palmetto home
MANATEE -- A gunman late Sunday tried to rob a woman at the front door of her Palmetto home but got away with nothing, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 10:58 p.m., the assailant approached the 20-year-old woman in front of her home in the 1700 block of 24th Street East and demanded money. After dumping the victim's belongings on the ground, he did not take anything and fled toward Canal Road in a silver Pontiac Grand Prix, according to a news release.
The victim was not injured.
The gunman was described as standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. He had a black bandanna covering his face, according to the report.
