Deputies make arrest after car burglaries in Palmetto neighborhood

MANATEE -- A suspect was arrested shortly after he was spotted rummaging through unlocked cars in a Palmetto neighborhood, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 12:25 a.m. Monday, the sheriff's office received a call about a man spotted getting into unlocked cars in the 600 block of 64th Street Court East, according to a news release.

Responding deputies searched the area and found Adonis Bonilla, 20, on Bayshore Road, a short distance from the caller's residence.

"He was stopped and made immediate spontaneous utterances about breaking into cars," the report states.

The witness identified Bonilla and he was arrested, the sheriff's office said.

Items stolen from the victims was found in a car Bonilla was seen going back to. The car was impounded, according to the sheriff's office.
