Couple robbed at gunpoint in Palmetto mobile home park

PALMETTO -- An 87-year-old woman and her 90-year-old husband were robbed at gunpoint by a suspect who pushed her inside her mobile home, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

At 1:56 p.m. Sunday, the victim was in her yard in the 8900 block 30th Avenue East in the Piney Point Mobile Home Park pulling weeds when she was first approached by the robber, according to the news release. He asked the victim if she needed any yard work done, but she told him that the mobile home park took care of that, so he drove off.

He then returned and asked the woman for money, and she told him no. He then asked her if her husband was home, and she said yes, according to police.

The suspect then said he wanted like to speak with the woman's husband. When she opened the door from the carport area, he pushed her inside, according to the release.

The subject took cash and fled the area.

He is described as a clean-shaven male in his 30s with short hair. He was seen wearing a blue or green T-shirt and dark pants. He was driving a beige sedan, possibly a Ford.
