Driver in serious condition after truck crashes into tree in Manatee

MANATEE -- A man was severely injured in an accident that involved a pickup truck colliding with a tree just north of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 7:39 a.m. at the intersection of Tallevast Road and Manatee Street, right off of U.S. 41, according to troopers. The dispatch call said the truck colliding into a tree might have involved a fire.

Troopers arrived on scene at 8 a.m. and the driver was trauma alerted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The roadway around the crash is clear.
