Bradenton police on Sunday arrested a suspect who fired a handgun at an unidentified victim at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Avenue East.

The suspect, who has been charged with attempted murder and has no bond, has been identified as San Nunez Martinez, said Lt. James Racky of the Bradenton Police Department.

Martinez and the victim had been involved in a relationship, police said. The suspect, who fled the scene, called while police were interviewing the victim “and admitted to wanting to kill the victim,” according to a police report.

No injuries were reported.

The arrest warrant was issued at 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Police located the suspect later Sunday morning and transported him to the Manatee County jail.
