BRADENTON -- A driver involved in a crash with the wife of Holmes Beach Mayor Bob Johnson was cited, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to a traffic crash report obtained by the Herald, 24-year-old Keslin Isma was cited for unknowingly operating a vehicle while her license was suspended. Johnson's wife, 74, was cited for running a red light.
The incident took place at 3:20 p.m. Oct. 13 at the intersection of U.S. 301 and 15th Street East in Bradenton, according to a report.
FHP troopers said Johnson was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius in a northwesterly direction on U.S. 301 in the left lane southeast of 15th Street East. Isma, who was driving a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport in a northerly direction, was in the left lane of 15th Street East, just south of U.S. 301. According to a report, Johnson's vehicle entered the intersection at the same time as Isma and the front of her vehicle collided with the front right side of the Hyundai. Johnson then ran off the roadway to the right before colliding with a one-way sign and a light pole where her vehicle came to rest.
Johnson suffered serious injuries and Isma suffered minor injuries, according to a report.
