Sarasota motorcyclist in Oct. 19 crash in Bradenton dies

MANATEE -- A Sarasota motorcyclist died after he was hit by a 53-year-old driver who made an improper left turn and caused a crash on Oct. 19, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Kevin Larson, 55, died from his injuries after being admitted to Blake Medical Center, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

At 6:45 a.m. Oct. 19, Larson was driving a Harley-Davidson motorycle northbound on 15th Street East approaching the intersection with 38th Avenue East, according to a release.

Fortino Cazares, of Bradenton, was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound on 15th Street East and had stopped in the left turn lane at the same intersection. Cazares began to turn, cutting into the path of the motorcycle, troopers said.

The motorcycle collided with the side of the car, according to the release. The crash caused no injury to the driver but sent Larson to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries.

Cazares was cited for an improper left turn that violated the right-of-way.
