2 suspects charged with stealing motorcycles from Manatee business

MANATEE -- Two men were arrested Thursday night after they were seen in the fenced-in area of a business looking at motorcycles and getting on at least one of them, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A representative of Granny's Motorsports, 2001 University Pkwy. in Sarasota, called 911 at 11:49 p.m. saying he saw two men, later identified as Jacoby Johnnille R. Johnson, 20, and Alphonso McDuffie Jr., 26, in the fenced-in area where the business kept motorcycles.

The two were looking into the motorcycles and got on at least one of them, according to a release.

Deputies established a perimeter before entering the business, and Johnson and McDuffie tried to run.

Deputies located Johnson behind a structure in the 8100 block of 25th Court East and McDuffie in the 2600 block of Tallevast Road, according to the release. Both were then arrested without further incident.

Deputies said both suspects confessed to the crime and are being charged with burglary.
